Where to Find Catholic Scholarships?

To start your search for Catholic college scholarships in 2013, check out the following sources.  In addition to investigating Catholic scholarships for college, take a look into general Christian scholarships as well. Remember to let Catholic leaders in your community know that you are looking for a scholarship as well.  Many local Catholic communities across North America have scholarship funds for the students in their parish.  It’s a good idea to perform volunteer service in your community and to share your resume with your local priest.

Knights of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus awards Catholic scholarships to the children of the Knights of Columbus as well as members of the Knights of Columbus.  The Catholic students who receive the scholarships are usually studying in North America, Puerto Rico and the Philippines.

Mount Marty College Catholic Leadership Award

Mount Marty College in South Dakota offers several scholarships, including the Catholic Leadership Award.  The procedure is to apply for admission at Mount Mary College, submit the Catholic Leadership Award Application and Priest Recommendation Form, followed by a scholarship interview.

Catholic United Scholarships

The Catholic United Financial Post High-School Tuition Scholarships are $500 awards for Catholics attending a Catholic college or university and $300 for a non-Catholic college, university, community college or technical school. The application period is from mid October till mid February.  Applicants must be members of Catholic United for at least two years before the deadline.

Catholic Studies at Manhattan College

The ABCO Peerless Sprinkler Corporation Scholarship started in 1998 to provide tuition assistance to students who are studying Catholic studies as Manhattan College.

University of St. Francis Scholarships

The University of St. Francis in Joliet, IL awards the Catholic School Scholarship to students who graduate from a Catholic high school and pursue undergraduate studies at the University of St. Francis.  The maximum award is $1,000.

Catholic Knights and Catholic Financial Life

The Catholic Knights and Catholic Financial Life award Catholic Scholarships every year.  Scholarships are for grade school, high school, and college.  The college scholarships for Catholics are $500 to $1,000.  The applicant must have been a financial member of Catholic Financial Life for at least one year prior to applying for the scholarship.

James Madison University

The John Vanderbilt Fulk Scholarship awards bout $1,250 each year to a sophomore, junior or senior at James Madison University who has demonstrated active involvement with the Catholic Campus Ministries and has demonstrated leadership skills and service.  James Madison University’s Financial Aid Department can provide more details at (540) 568-7820.

Many universities have financial aid offices with a great deal of information about college grants and scholarships.  It is a good idea to investigate the possibilities for a Catholic scholarship at your choice of college or university, too.
